The next step is to learn more about the house advantage for each kind of bet. Of course the house always has an advantage for any kind of bet but there are certain bets where the house advantage is less. The house advantage is simply a constant number expressed in percentage which determines how much a player is expected to lose per total amount of money bet. Note that since the house advantage for each kind of bet is constant and it depends on the total amount of money bet then the more you bet the more money you lose. In the long run the house will of course win more and more money. However, betting on bets with lower house advantages will lessen the effect and cause you to lose money slower. Listed below are the betting options in craps and the expected house advantage for each option.
You can see that the safest bets are the Don't' Pass and Don't Come Bets with the Pass line and Come Bets close behind. On the other hand, as mentioned in the Craps Rules section and as shown on the table above, Proposition bets such as Any Craps, Any Seven and Yo Eleven are the riskiest kinds of bets in craps with Place number bets like Big 6, Big 8, Hard 6, Hard 8 and Hard 4 and 10 close behind. Notice that the house advantage for bad bets is more than 4 times that of the best bets. It would be foolish then to go with the bad types of bets when playing craps, unless of course one has plenty of money to burn. In addition, note that placing numbers gives different odds for different numbers so if you choose to place numbers then you'd better go with 6 or 8, which offers better odds. In case you feel like trying out any of the proposition bets then do it in a casino that only gets commissions from wins. Such casinos are rare but can be found. |
