5. Multi-pay line slots

• this is what is illustrated above in both three and five reel slots when I discussed games with three lines. Instead of the standard middle row as the only pay out line, pay outs are given in the top, middle, bottom, diagonal left, diagonal right, etc. In five reel games some combinations are not in a straight line. The combinations criterion is that at least two symbols are connected to each other. With fifteen possible pay out lines, the odds of winning are greater.

• In stand alone slot games the jackpot increases incrementally with every coin deposited in the machine. However, this means that once the jackpot has been won, it has to be built up again from the base amount.
• Another type of progressive slot is the networked slots. As in the stand alone model, the jackpot increases incrementally with every coin deposited. However, since the machines are all connected in a network, all the machines contribute to the jackpot. This means that the jackpot is much, much bigger than it would with a stand alone machine.
