Stud Poker

In stud poker players are given a mix of face down and face up cards dealt in multiple rounds of betting. The cards dealt face down to players are called hole cards. For most stud games the first player to make a bet during a round varies. Usually with the player whose set of face-up cards make the best hand during the round gets to make the first bet.
The number of betting rounds differs for different kinds of stud games. The number of betting rounds in a game is important since the best betting structure in which to play the game with depends on it. Stud games with four or less betting rounds works well with any structure but works best with a no limit and pot limit play. On the other hand games with more than four betting rounds work best in a fixed limit or spread limit play. A spread limit play means that the limit varies from the first few rounds to the last rounds. The limit is usually increased after a couple of betting rounds.
Some of the common variations of stud poker are: Five-Card Stud, Seven-Card Stud, Low Hole Card Wild, Follow the Queen, Crocodile Stud, Buffalo Stud, Australian Stud, Six-Card Stud games like Alligator Stud and Zanetti Stud, Razz, London Lowball, Eight-or-better High-Low Stud, Mississippi Stud, Murrumbidgee Stud, Mexican Stud, Shifting Sands, and Blind Stud.
